Sony Playstation 3

I could remember but somewhat hazily the first
time I purchased a Playstation. It was a 1 then, and featuring a
laser disc –which is a huge relieving depart from cartridge-based
consoles that dominated that time. With the next Sony Playstation
release it was a bit more distinct, and among it featured was the
DVD format capability, an integrated DVD player (whereas the PS1
issue had a VCD player integration but on a limited line) and
online gaming feature.
So, what’s the point in this little trivia, you
ask? It is to show how EACH time Sony releases a Playstation, it
always heralded a new generation of gaming. From being the first to
use the VCD format with PS1; being the first with the DVD for PS2;
and now with the Blu-ray, it seems PS3 is well ahead of its
competitors. This is the seventh generation gaming by the way, and
the catchcry Play B3yond is really more than just l33t speak.
The Power of Sony
Playstation 3
How much power
does the Sony Playstation 3 posses? It may be considerably stronger
than that PC sitting at your desk. Today’s high-end processor is
the Dual Core @3.2GHz, Sony Playstation 3 utilizes a Cell Processor
PowerPC-base Core @3.2GHz. The graphics uses an RSX @ 550MHz that
can tap the Rambus 256MB XDR @3.2GHz Memory and the 256MB GDDR3
VRAM @700MHz. That is the power of Sony Playstation 3.
Sony Playstation 3,
the Multilevel Platform
It may seem a bit naïve for Sony Playstation 3
to choose a side while the format war is still raging. But to
incorporate the Blu-ray technology is a blessing, really. With the
Blu-ray’s storage capability of 50GB, compare it to 5GB limitation
of DVD, that is speaking of considerable differences. And Sony
Playstation 3 is being reported better than actual Blu-ray disc
players, for its affordable price and faster loading times. (See

Sony Playstation 3 is also eager to race for the
better online gaming service, with the PlayStation Network. This
service allows, among several perks, thousands of downloadable
items for free or for sale, including demos and patches. This is an
enticement for Sony Playstation 3 users to buy their games of
choice by first checking demos. Of course, the PS3 user can also
interact with other players or play against them.
Of the three entries for the seventh generation
console gaming, Sony Playstation 3 definably has a technology edge
and it commands a higher price because of it. But considering that
Microsoft’s Xbox360 costs $525 at launch (though it roughly costs
as low as $399 today), the Wii plus accessories is around $320,
Sony Playstation 3’s premium price at $599 is already a giveaway,
for its Blu-ray, the Online Feature, and the crop of stunning games
available soon.
